2011 programme announced: special previews, live events, explorations of sound and vision, code, sci-fi cities and more at BFI Southbank!

23 – 27 November, 2011
In Partnership with BFI Southbank
www.onedotzero.com

2011 sees onedotzero celebrate 15 years of championing the progression of global digital culture and innovation in motion. Programmed in partnership with regular host venue BFI Southbank, this special anniversary will present short films and animation, music videos, interactivity, digital art and everything in between.

Giving an early platform to the likes of then-unknown visionaries such as Spike Jonze, Chris Cunningham and Jonathan Glazer, as well as pioneering VJ-ing and interactive installation work from UVA, Jason Bruges and Daniel Brown, the festival continues to serve up the very latest in moving image and interactive arts and will return to BFI Southbank, throughout 23 – 27 November.

For its 2011 edition, onedotzero is excited to reveal a diverse array of the very latest in visual
creativity, via five days of expertly curated compilation screenings, feature films, exhibitions and
installations, live audio-visual performances, bar events, education projects, presentations and
panel discussions.

This yearʼs festival will explore a wealth of new themes and creative strands, including modes of presentation; taking in live a/v performances, 3D and interactive installations, as well as a special live version of ʻSufferrosaʼ, the critically acclaimed interactive neo-noir movie, ʻone of the biggest web-based storytelling projects ever madeʼ. The curated programme, ʻonscreenʼ, installed in the Studio – BFI Southbankʼs state-of-the-art digital cinema -, will showcase moving
image work designed for a gallery or single screen projection.

There will also be a focus on the pervasive projection-mapping trend, exploring its use of the 4th dimension, turning the city into canvas and venue. Other highlights include a continuing exploration of creative Code, in particular looking at new moving image from programmers and creative technoligists; and the relationship between Sound  and Vision, exploring sound as a visual medium, from apps to installations and live A/V performances across live, installations and debates.

Sound and vision converge throughout this yearʼs festival, from the sell-out annual wavelength music video programme, to a special UK premiere of up-coming feature The Spirit of Apollo, a behind the scenes documentary of the making of N.A.S.A.’s globe-trotting, collaborative, debut album, featuring turns from Method Man, Kanye West, M.I.A, Chuck D, David Byrne and Tom Waits.

Introducing the very best work at the intersection of art, design, cinema, technology and entertainment, convergence and collaboration permeates the festival programming and BFI Southbank, inspiring new thinking, new ideas and new experiences for all ages.
