Disney’s animated epic, The Lion King 3D, continues to go from strength to strength as the movie has now taken pride of place as one of the all time top grossing films at the American box office. After only 3 weeks in cinemas across the US, the total gross stands at an astonishing $79.7; this number gets more impressive as the movie opens internationally, to date the film is open in 19 territories, bringing the worldwide box office figure to an incredible $98.7.
This means that the Pride of Disney, The Lion King 3D, has now joined an elite list of highest grossing films of all time, which includes Titanic, Avatar, Star Wars and Disney Pixar’s Toy Story 3. The Lion King already holds pride of place as the third highest grossing animated film of all time, the highest grossing traditional hand-drawn animated film of all time and the highest grossing film for Walt Disney Animation Studios.
