With sharp, quick-witted dialogue set against the spectacle of modern world power and politics, The Ides of March is an intense tale of sex, ambition, loyalty, betrayal and revenge. The film follows an idealistic young press spokesman working for a newbie presidential candidate as he battles with backroom politics, the treacherous manipulations of veteran operatives and seduction by a young intern.
In the film, George Clooney ( Up in the Air ) plays Governor Morris, a candidate running in the presidential primary race for the Democratic Party ticket. Ryan Gosling ( Blue Valentine ) plays his press spokesman, Philip Seymour Hoffman ( Capote ) plays his campaign manager, Paul Giamatti ( Sideways ) plays a rival campaign manager, Marisa Tomei ( The Wrestler ) plays a reporter for the New York Times, Evan Rachel Wood ( The Wrestler ) plays an intern for the Morris campaign, Jeffrey Wright ( Casino Royale ) plays a key senator, and Max Minghella ( The Social Network ) plays Ben Harper, a campaign worker for Morris.
Writer and director George Clooney leads the campaign trail when THE IDES OF MARCH is released on DVD and Blu-ray on 5 March 2012.
