Starring Charlie Creed-Miles, Will Poulter, Liz White, Andy Serkis and Jaime Winstone
A hit at the London Film Festival, where it screened to rave reviews, and nominated for Best Achievement in Production at the 2011 British Independent Film Awards, Wild Bill is Dexter Fletcher’s directorial debut from the producers Sam Tromans (Dead Man Running) and Tim Cole. Starring Charlie Creed-Miles (Hereafter, Harry Brown), Will Poulter (Son of Rambow), Liz White (The Woman in Black, Life on Mars) Andy Serkis (Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Tintin), Jaime Winstone (Made in Dagenham, Anuvahood), Jason Flemyng (X-Men: First Class, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels), Olivia Williams (An Education, Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll), Leo Gregory (Stoned, Tristan & Isolde), Iwan Rheon (Misfits) and newcomers Sammy Williams (Attack the Block) and Charlotte Spencer, this East London Western is a heartwarming, family-driven crime drama. Wild Bill premiered at San Sebastian where it was selected for the Euskaltel Youth Award, voted for by 350 delegates aged 17 to 25.
Out on parole after 8 years inside, Bill Hayward returns home to find his now 11 and 15-year old sons abandoned by their mother and fending for themselves. Unwilling to play Dad, his arrival brings them to the attention of social services. With the danger of being put into care looming, Dean forces his Dad to stay by threatening to grass him up for dealing. Dean soon connects with Jimmy and through this new bond starts to realize what he’s been missing. He has a family and a place in the world, but when Jimmy gets into trouble with Bill’s old cohorts, he quickly has to decide what kind of Dad he wants to be. A good one, or a free one.
Universal Pictures and The Works UK Distribution present a 20ten Media production. Wild Bill is released in the United Kingdom by The Works UK Distribution and opens in cinemas across the UK on 23 March 2012.
