Cashel Entertainment begins production of sneak peak “Shorts” as a prequel to the much anticipated werewolf paranormal thriller FREEBORN.

Freeborn, the fan inspired, and fan funded feature film directed by Anthony Brownrigg (Red Victoria), and produced by Brownrigg, Magil Booth, and Emerick Jade is ramping up production on a series of short films. Each one surrounding individual characters from the screenplay of the feature.

“Weʼve been bringing in money already via Indiegogo from fans of the project. But with any project of this nature, getting a lot of new things out there is important to keep the fans interested, weʼre not a studio after all.” says Brownrigg

The story of a young woman who becomes infected with Lycanthropy and comes face to face with the real world of werewolves, Freeborn aims at a different aspect of the werewolf phenomenon. Intended to follow along with what the original fans of the project in 2005 were after, the producers have taken great strides to make the screenplay deliver on aspects that will help make the entire project a truly symbiotic relationship.

The first of the series of shorts will begin even before casting is finished. Which Cashel Entertainment is realizing via online submissions in a nation wide talent search. In addition the entire project will eventually be included in Cashel Entertainments new back end marketing model called MDK (Movie Development Kit). The MDK will allow fans of the project to actually get their hands on all the raw footage of the film after its release, and even re-edit the entire film as they see fit free of copyright restrictions.

After which, Cashel plans on placing each persons version within their own model of OnDemand Viewing so the internet talent out there can actually get a percentage of profit for the work theyʼve done.

“With so many people out there doing their own ʻversionsʼ of films, we figured why not put out the theatrical cut, directors cut, and Mikes cut, Susans cut, etc. Some may even want to re-edit the entire film as a comedy, as an artist Iʼm for that.” -Brownrigg

With that in the future, Cashel now embarks on building the characters and actors to prepare them for a release in the official feature. The first being the series of shorts, the first of which will be surrounding Emerick Jadeʼs character “Tasha” from the film. Each short will act as a character prequel happening at various times before the movie. As production continues on the shorts. Joe Chan formerly of Living Room Games, has begun a card game also based on the film, in which some of the characters in the game will come from the fans themselves.

“Itʼs a brave new world in cinema”, says Brownrigg. “New things have to be tried, thereʼs a lot of artists out there that are all searching for a new model of filmmaking and most of the bigger projects have all the things that independent film canʼt afford. We hope to help change that process”.
