56th BFI London Film Festival

Archive Gala Screening announced as Hitchcock’s The Manxman

Friday 19 October 2012

The programme for the 56th BFI London Film Festival, in partnership with American Express, is set to launch on Wednesday 5 September. We’re really looking forward to this year’s Festival with our new programme categories, new venues, and of course a selection of fantastic films from around the world. We’ll be making announcements on booking dates in the near future.

We are delighted to announce that this year’s Archive Gala will be the culmination of the BFI’s The Genius of Hitchcock season. The BFI National Archive’s new restoration of Hitchcock’s The Manxman (1926) will be presented in association with The Krasner Fund for the BFI. It will be shown at The Empire, Leicester Square with a new score by Stephen Horne on Friday 19 October.

Nintendo 3DS XL 3D short filmmaking competition

Nintendo and the BFI are excited to invite emerging filmmakers to submit a short film using the filming modes on the Nintendo 3DS or 3DS XL around the theme of ‘British Summer 2012’. Don’t miss the chance to be mentored by expert filmmakers, attend a 3D Masterclass at BFI Southbank, conduct your own 3D film shoot with a professional crew and premiere this film at the Nintendo Gala Screening at the 56th BFI London Film Festival.
