The line-up for the 2013 Glasgow FrightFest has been announced along with some great special guests, including Eli Roth, Neil Jordan and Lee Hardcastle. The weekend festival of horror begins on the 22 February 2013 and boasts UK premieres of some of our most highly anticipated genre films.
Eli Roth will be on hand to present his disaster movie Aftershock along with the film’s director and star, Neil Jordan, Gemma Arterton and Saorise Ronan will introduce their art-house vampire film Byzantium, and Lee Hardcastle, Simon Rumley and Jake West will talk about outrageous anthology horror The ABCs Of Deathbefore showing controversial festival hit.
The FrightFest team will also be giving UK premieres to Rob Zombie‘s The Lords Of Salem, which will find the director making a clean break from the Halloween franchise for a tale of witchcraft, and Barry Levinson’s The Bay, which uses found footage for its viral outbreak storyline.
Part of the fun of FrightFest is discovering horror films that have flown under the radar so the team are bringing some choice picks to sit alongside the marquee movies above.
Bring Me The Head Of The Machine Gun Woman has the best title we’ve heard in a while, horror documentary The American Scream has picked up some great buzz, Detention Of The Dead has taken the midnight fun slot, and Sawney: Flesh Of Man has been chosen after appearing at the main FrightFest event in London last summer.
Cult Norwegian TV show Hellfjord will have a strong presence as director Patrik Syversen and stars Stig Frode Henriksen and Zahid Ali will introduce seven episodes of the highly anticipated series. There will also be a new restoration of Mario Bava’s masterpiece of anthology horror Black Sabbath which we can’t recommend highly enough.
