Arrow Films are pleased to announce the DVD box set release of one of France’s most controversial and hilarious new series, HARD, on Monday February 18th.

Written and directed by award-winning French actress Cathy Verney, HARD is a comedy drama which follows the misfortunes of Sophie, a respectable middle-class housewife from a traditionally French Catholic upbringing.

Following the sudden death of her husband after a freak accident, Sophie uncovers a dark secret about his lifestyle.  On the day of his funeral, the true nature of their family business is revealed… Sophie’s deceased husband and her mother-in-law have been running a secret porn empire!

Finding ways to cope with the emotional strain of the loss of her loved one, and driven by the need to keep their home and feed her family, Sophie is thrust into a world of adult fantasy and erotica as she takes control of the company and its studios.

As Sophie looks to revitalise the fortunes of her new-found venture while keeping her self-respect intact, HARD as a series addresses the comic reality of the porn industry, and questions its social and professional taboos against the complexity of family life, relationships and love.

HARD originally aired on France’s premiere StudioCanal+, the series won writer-director Cathy Verney the Roma Fiction Festival’s prestigious “Best Director” Award. Following the success of Braquo and Maison Close, Arrow Films are once again looking across the channel to bring the world’s finest foreign language entertainment to living rooms across the UK.
