Worldwide classic film distributor Park Circus is pleased to announce it will represent two titles at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
Appearing in the Official Selection Cannes Classics lineup is Sony Pictures’ spectacular 4K restoration of Orson Welles‘ hall of mirrors noir thriller, The Lady from Shanghai (1948). Joining in the worldwide centenary celebrations of one of cinema’s greatest talents (the director was born on 6th May 1915), the festival will showcase an enduring entry in the Welles canon – The Lady from Shanghai is charged by the on-screen chemistry between Welles and his then-wife Rita Hayworth. This definitive restoration from Colorworks at Sony Pictures, scanned at 4K from the original nitrate negative, is also set for a wider French reissue on 17 June, opening the Orson Welles Retrospective at La Cinémathèque française in Paris.
Past and present will collide on the Cinéma de la Plage when Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios‘ The Terminator (1984) blasts through time to land on the beach, taking audiences back to the blockbusting beginning of this iconic franchise. After 31 years, audiences will get the first chance to reacquaint themselves with James Cameron’s much-loved sci-fi hit before it receives a global reissue in June in over 20 territories.
