MACE launch first commercial DVD
ATV Today
The Black Country
The Media Archive for Central England (MACE), the midland's public sector moving image archive, is preparing for their first DVD release.
The Black Country (1969) is a poignant and atmospheric profile of the people and character of the Black Country, the ‘birthplace and the cradle of the industrial revolution'.
The half an hour long documentary made by ATV Today in 1969 explores the changing industry and landscape of the region through the eyes of its people.
Bonus material includes a second half hour documentary Jaywalking: On the Road to Nowhere featuring a faggot and pea supper evening at Lower Gornal Football Club in 1974, plus a selection of eight short films from the ATV Today archives featuring the Black Country industry, traditions, entertainment and people.
The DVD will be released on 1st November 2010 and will be available directly through MACE and through the online marketplace, Amazon for £14.99. To pre-order a copy for a £1 discount please contact Emma on esm8@le.ac.uk or 0116 252 5062 before October 31st
