| Urban Legends – Launch website West Midlands
Birmingham students have launched a website documenting unsolved paranormal activity in the West Midlands.
Thirty West Midland's students have taken part in a scheme organised by Hello Digital and Hi8us to investigate local urban legends. In addition to exploring existing myths the group have also learnt a variety of media skills which they've used to create their own paranormal footage. The group have launched the website inviting people to decide which footage is real and which is fabricated from a series of videos including Birmingham Bigfoot sightings and Poltergeist activity.
The project also allowed the students to develop their interpersonal skills by bringing together a diverse mix of people. The teenagers came from secondary schools Washwood Heath School and Technology College and Holte Secondary School as well as young peoples' housing projects: The Meeting House in Sandwell and Ravenhurst, Birmingham.

“It's been great working with such a creative group of students and everyone involved has thoroughly enjoyed getting to grips with the material. The footage that the students created is spine chilling and we're delighted that it's already receiving some interest on YouTube. The ultimate aim of the project was to bring together different groups and help teach them digital, communication and interpersonal skills and we're really happy to have achieved this.”
The Screen WM funded project is part of Say Hello, a programme of projects for Hello Digital designed to break new ground for participatory work around digital media.
