Food on Film Festival
The Kingussie Food on Film Festival triumphantly returns in 2016 for an amazing ninth year! The four day foodie festival which runs from Thursday 4th February to Sunday 7th February 2016 has an exciting line up of foodie films, creative events and the return of the now infamous Food Hall – stocked full of artisan food producers displaying their fine creations.
The festival aims to banish the winter blues, celebrate different tastes and cultures, new local produce and of course kick off the year in flamboyant style!
At the heart of the festival is the stunningly beautiful community of Kingussie in the Cairngorms National Park. It is known for its resilience and volunteer spirit, certainly where many community run events find it a challenge to stand the test of time, this festival has gone from strength to strength. The attendance figures speak for themselves, from a few hundred to several thousand repeat visitors, bringing their own energy and enthusiasm to the mix.
The festival was founded in 2007 by a partnership of Chef Lydie Bocquillon, former Head Teacher John Tracey and local film maker Helen Graham. The Kingussie Food on Film committee was established in 2009 and works in partnership with several community groups. The festival which always taking place in the first weekend in February each year is now hurtling towards its tenth anniversary!
Over the years we have been very lucky to amass a large collection of festival photos and press clippings, these are in the process of being digitised and will soon be available on our Flickr page preserved for the future!
We currently have a wonderful team, a huge thank you to our dedicated volunteers, without them the festival would not be possible.
