29th January 2006 brought the annual Sundance Film Festival at Park City, Utah, to a close. The brainchild of Robert Redford, the Sundance Institute was set up in 1981 to support independent filmmaking. It has since become renowned for discovering the best independent talent, and is the inspiration for the Slamdance Festival, The Moondance Women-in-Film Weekend and, of course, our own Raindance Film Festival, here in the UK.
