Bug Eyes – A night of insect films!

As part of their First International Arts Pestival – a series of events devoted to our insect friends, including insect-made and inspired music concerts – the (rather wonderful) Strange Attractor journal is presenting a double bill of great bug movies.

First up is Ladislaw Starewicz’s, The Cameraman’s Revenge, a 1912 animation using real insects, with a new, specially-commissioned soundtrack.

It’s followed by the one and only film directed by Saul Bass, famous designer of Hitchcock’s opening credits sequences (Vertigo, Psycho, North By Northwest). Phase IV is a 1974 sci-fi movie about the rise of intelligent ants.

The films will be followed by a discussion on insects in cinema.

The event takes place at the London Wetlands Centre in Barnes and you can book on 0208 409 4400.

You can find out more at www.pestival.org or www.strangeattractor.co.uk
