THE ZONE HORROR FRIGHTFEST has given Hans Horn’s ADRIFT its top slot at this year’s festival, screening at 9pm on Saturday 26th August at the Odeon West End, Leicester Square. Tickets will go on sale from August 1st and can be purchased from www.frightfest.co.uk.
The nightmarish, high-tension tale of a perilous fight for survival, ADRIFT, then comes to a cinema near you on September 1st courtesy of Pathé Distribution.
Based on true events, ADRIFT tells of six long-time friends who gather for an ill-fated celebration aboard a luxurious yacht. The champagne flows freely and soon some of the group decide to go for an impromptu swim in the middle of the ocean. Amy, a serious hydrophobia sufferer, stays on board to look after her baby and the party’s host, Dan, keeps her company. On impulse Dan decides to cure Amy of her fear of water through aversion therapy. But when he picks her up and jumps overboard with her in his arms he discovers the major planning flaw that will test the whole group’s will to survive. Nobody had thought to put ladder down and there is no way back onto the boat. Powerless in a place they once thought was paradise, the friends suddenly find themselves in a desperate struggle to live.
The film, directed by talented newcomer Hans Horn, features: Eric Dane (X-MEN 3), Ali Hilis (MUST LOVE DOGS, KISS KISS BANG BANG), Niklaus Lange (LEGALLY BLONDE), Susan May Pratt (CENTER STAGE, 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU), Cameron Richardson (RISE, SUPERCROSS) and Richard Speight, Jr. (BAND OF BROTHERS, SPEED 2, INDEPENDENCE DAY). Dan Maag and Philip Schulz-Deyle (R.V., BASIC INSTINCT 2) produced from the screenplay by Adam Kreutner & Dave Mitchell.
ADRIFT will be released by Pathé Distribution at cinemas across the United Kingdom on September 1st. Certificate 15 & running time 94 mins.
