New "Creative Screenwriting MA"

- a unique blend of Craft and Creativity

This new MA at Thames Valley University offers screenwriting students the chance to expand their creativity and is specifically designed for those who wish to develop their sense of voice. We strongly believe creativity can be taught and good scripts come not just from good technique but from good ideas and committed voices. Many Screenwriting MAs focus too narrowly on technique and vocational skills but this course aims to marry the best of Screenwriting teaching with the more writer-focused tradition in Creative Writing, teaching strong writing skills whilst helping students to understand and manage their creativity and writing process. Exploring your voice is also a great marketing tool as it helps writers make better career choices, and the course gives expert advice on promoting and selling work, as well as offering a unique on-line learning support system, enabling students to become creative, confident and professional screenwriters.

Situated by Ealing Studios in west London, TVU has excellent links with industry and the MA offers regular networking opportunities and sessions with a range of practitioner guest speakers, as well as the opportunity to have a short script produced. The course ends with a Pitching & Networking event where students promote themselves to the industry, and for this year only, there is an exciting chance to be part of an international screenwriting workshop in Europe during summer 2007.

The course starts October 2006, full-time or part-time, evenings. For more information, visit: http://mercury.tvu.ac.uk/screenwriting To apply, email: <LCMM_PGAPPS@tvu.ac.uk> or call Caide Oxland (Postgraduate Admissions) on 0208 231 2779
