New Screenwriters’ Festival launched
A new festival that will give screenwriters a chance to share experiences and ideas was launched at Soho House this week. A host of big-name industry supporters attended the event which featured a key note speech from Bill Nicholson, a writer on films such as Gladiator, Shadowlands and First Knight.
The launch event outlined plans for the International Screenwriters’ Festival, which will be held at Cheltenham Film Studios between 27 June – 2 July 2006. Dedicated to the art, craft and business of writing for the screen, the festival will bring together professional industry delegates, high profile guests and new talent from around the world. The festival will be a hot-house of storytelling and script-writing, giving writers and industry professionals a forum to discuss their work, develop new alliances and discover new ways of working.
In addition, the International Screenwriters’ Festival will soon be launching an
exciting new competition aimed at aspiring young writers who are based in
Gloucestershire (supported by Learning & Skills Council Gloucestershire and BBC
Radio Gloucestershire). SCRIPT_ONE will be offering script development workshops and the opportunity to pitch projects during the festival. To find out more about SCRIPT_ONE, and about the exciting programme of events planned for the festival, check out the festival website.
