BANNED FILM TO BE SCREENED IN THANET
An explosive and controversial film, long banned in France, will be shown in Margate on Thursday 16th Feb.
Gollo Pontercorvo’s The Battle of Algiers tells the story of the battle for independence in Algeria in the 1960s against the French colonialists.
It was made with the active participation of fighters from the Algerian National Liberation Front and achieves shocking levels of realism.
The winner of the Golden Lion award at the Venice Film Festival, the film was recently shown in the Pentagon by the US military as an example of what the US might expect in Iraq!
The film showing is organised by the Thanet branch of the Respect Party.
The film will be shown at 7.30pm Thursday 16th Feb at the Community Pharmacy Gallery, Market Square, Margate. More information: Bunny la Roche 07947 424505
