16mm Film Production. (Evening & Weekends) |
First step into film production. Designed as an introduction for those who have not shot film before and covers the process of production from initial idea through to final edit. Students work in small groups and produce a short film shot on an Arriflex SR11 Super 16mm camera. Digital post-production using Adobe Premiere Pro. Open College Network accredited.
(This evening course runs over 7 weeks and consists of 5 evening classes from 7pm to 9.30pm + shooting and editing sessions at weekends. Students should have taken "Shooting Video", "Experimental 8" or similar course(s) first) Starts: 2006 Date TBC.

Pushing the boundaries.
An opportunity to explore and experiment in time based visual media using Super 8 film and digital video. The course covers the whole process of experimental film production from initial idea through to a final video and takes you through various experimental techniques. Students will work in small groups producing a short production using our DVCAM cameras and Super 8 film cameras. Final video will be edited digitally using Adobe Premiere Pro.
Open College Network accredited.
(The course runs over 4 evenings from 7.00 - 9.30pm with a shoot day on the weekend of week 5, and following that editing sessions in the evenings and at a weekend)

Shooting Video. (Evening & Weekends) |
Your first step into video production. Shooting Video is an evening course covering the whole process of video production, from the initial idea through to a final programme. The course is designed for those wishing to take that first step into video production. Students work in small groups and produce a short film shooting on DVCAM cameras and editing digitally with Adobe Premiere Pro software. Open College Network accredited.
(The course runs over 8 weeks from 7.00-9.30pm - plus an additional shoot on the weekend of week 6 and an additional editing day on the weekend of week 8.)

Introduction to Screenwriting (Evening) |
Writers for film+TV
UK Film council designed course aimed at those wanting to write for the screen. Over 22 evenings you cover everything from developing ideas and plots, to genre, style, characterisation, writing dialogue, outlines, treatments, rewrites and more. At the end the course you will also look at selling on your screenplay.
Starts 30th January 2006. Ends: 17 th July 2006 Cost £210
Shooting Drama. (Daytime 1 week fill-time) |
Your next step into drama production.
Shooting Drama is a 2nd level course run by award winning short film maker Simon Hook. Students are taught the main principals of drama production and the key roles of the production crew, as well as how to use OFVM's professional production equipment (Sony DSR 250 full size DVCAM Kit).
Students then shoot over 2 days a short drama from an original script, using professionally trained actors. Over the final two days you will edit the film using Adobe Premiere Pro software, supported by an experienced editor. Students must have completed OFVM's introductory video production courses "Shooting Video or Experimental Film & Video", or OFVM's 16mm Film course or have completed similar courses elsewhere.

Adobe Premiere Editing. (Weekend) |
Practical weekend course designed for new editors and directors looking to take their first steps in digital editing. Over the 2 days you cover all aspects of video post-production using the leading desktop editing software Adobe Premiere Pro. Learn how to digitise and edit, and explore transitions, titling and 3 rd party plug-ins. Some experience of "Windows" necessary. Dates 11 th and 12 th February 2006 11.30pm - 6pm Cost £135
Cubase Digital audio. Music for film.(Weekend) |
An introductory course that covers basic midi programming, virtual instruments and midi data conversion. As you build your own track you learn manipulation, editing, sequencing, mixing, audio effects, EQ, pan basics and mastering skills. The weekend ends with a session on CD burning and you come away with your own CD creation!

Adobe After Effects (Weekend) |
Titling, motion graphics, visual effects and more. A very hands on 2 day course that explores the potential of this exciting post production software for those looking to add a professional touch to their productions. Adobe Premiere experience necessary and a knowledge of Adobe PhotoShop would be an advantage

Reel Women - video production course (Weekday) |
This introduction to video making covers the whole process of video production, from the initial idea, through to a finished film. The course is designed for women wishing to make their first step into video production. The six students will be given a written brief to produce a short documentary video that relates to - Womens Voices - the topic of International Womens Festival 2006. They will then work together to develop the documentary idea, shoot it on our digital equipment, and then edit the film with Adobe Premiere computer software. The completed video will be screened as part of the International Womens Week 16th March 2006 at OFVM. Accredited by The Open College Network.
Dates: 27th, 28th Feb, 1st, 6th , 7th & 8th March 2006 10.30am - 3pm. Cost £15 This course is subsidised for women on state benefits only. Students must also be over 19 and live in Oxfordshire.
