RELEASED ON DVD: 5TH FEBRUARY

From the ice-caps of Antarctica comes the ultimate animal kingdom
road-trip movie, FARCE OF THE PENGUINS – a hilarious tale of two
penguins embarking on one long and desperate mission…to get laid.

The Samuel L Jackson-narrated spoof of last year’s smash-hit doc
MARCH OF THE PENGUINS brings a whole new meaning to the ‘Blue’
Planet as it follows foul-mouthed Carl, lovelorn Jimmy and their penguin
posse on their 70-mile hedonistic search for food, fun and females.

Real-life penguin footage is voiced by a cast of celebrities including
Whoopi Goldberg, Jason Biggs (AMERICAN PIE), Christina Applegate
(ANCHORMAN, THE SWEETEST THING), Jason Alexander (PRETTY
WOMAN) and Tracy Morgan (JAY AND SILENT BOB, THE LONGEST
YARD), who bring to life the raunchy script by US comedian Bob Saget.

Whilst watching MARCH OF THE PENGUINS with friends, US comedian and writer Bob Saget couldn’t help but add his own voiceover to the penguins who “all looked like my relatives in Florida walking to a deli.” It was here that the idea for FARCE came from.

Saget, renowned for his roles in US shows including ENTOURAGE and FULL HOUSE, brought his unique comedic talent to the script, which he then sent to a number of contacts. On reading through the first draft and explaining the concept of the film, Saget was able to attract some top names to the project, including Samuel L. Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg and Christina Applegate.

Of Samuel L. Jackson Saget says; “He brought so much to this film. I ended up using anything I could from when he went off script or had an idea to embellish some existing, more conventional narrative. He was truly wonderful to work with and had me laughing throughout.” Samuel understood the premise from the beginning.

The number of stars involved in the film meant that novel ways of pinning them down and adding their voices were necessary. “The movie could not have been made without the internet. A few with one or two lines did it on the internet and emailed it to me.”

Hundreds of hours of penguin footage licensed from all over the world was watched
and painstakingly edited by a dedicated team to find shots that could be cut together to match the dialogue. “I was concerned our editors were beginning to look and behave like penguins.” The whole editing process took 7 months, with the editing team sometimes spending days on a short 30-second scene trying to find the right footage to be ‘in-sync’ with the track.

There are a couple of similarities between FARCE OF THE PENGUINS and the film
which it parodies – a few of the musicians who worked on MARCH were in the actual orchestra for FARCE. Though with titles from FARCE including ‘Hoes in Here’, it was likely to be a fairly different experience.

SOME UNUSUAL PENGUIN FACTS…

PENGUIN PROSTITUTION: In Antartica female penguins trade
sex for stones – a vital essential to build nests. Prostitution is the
world's oldest profession. But it is the first time it has been seen in
animals.

GAY PENGUINS: In Central Park Zoo, New York two gay penguins –
Roy and Silo -were given a fertilised egg and raised their own little
chick called Tango. The tale of Roy and Silo was even made into a
children's book called And Tango Makes Three.

WAR PENGUINS: Nils Olav, penguin of Edinburgh Zoo, is the Colonel-
in-Chief of the Norwegian Army… who said penguins were cute!

SINGING PENGUINS: David Hasselhoff recorded with the most
famous penguin of them all… Pingu in ‘Pingu Dance’. Unfortunately,
this received a limited release, in Switzerland.
