There have been several 3D films released over the past few months aimed at children; Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, Coraline, Monsters vs. Aliens, Bolt, Jonas Brothers: the 3D Concert Experience and Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert, and there seem to be plenty more on the way between now and Christmas. G-Force however is different, in that not only is it the first live action Disney film to be produced in 3D but it also sets new standards for those that are in the making.
Featuring the voices of Rockwell, Cruz, Morgan and Favreau as the Guinea Pigs, Buscemi as Bucky the Hamster and Cage as Speckles the Mole, G-Force brings together a team of highly trained secret agent guinea pigs and mole, who must escape the pet shop they find their way into and prevent billionaire Leonard Saber from destroying the world with household appliances.
G-Force is a little dreary at the start but stay with it as those first impressions should be quickly overcome with excitement and a fondness for the animals involved. The 3D element isn't as dominant and obvious as it has been in some of the releases in recent months. However, there are some very exciting and anxious moments that will have you on the end of your seat that do incorporate the 3D technology extremely well. The firework scene is one of the more creative and very exhilarating moments, plus another sequence of which the creators of Transformers would be proud. This film will win you over with its dynamic activity, humorous events and lovable characters, and there's some unexpected twists too.
The team behind G-Force have created the animal characters in such a way that they are adventurous as well as intelligent and comical in both appearance and personality. Each animal is given its own persona, which is bought to life by the actor portraying that particular animal. And there's no shortage of laughs in the movie, which embraces farting guinea pigs, bottoms on fire, a neurotic hamster and three gullible mice, while the way the animals are able to outsmart the humans is enough to make even the most cantankerous of adults crack a smile.
The summer holidays are always a tough time for parents in terms of finding the right activities and days out to keep children interested and engaged. G-Force is a must see film for all the family and will certainly keep a child entertained for its hour and a half duration.
