White God (15) | Home Ents Review

White God is a curious animal; a Hungarian-language effort from visionary director Kornél Mundruczó, it is perhaps worst described as Homeward Bound meets Cujo meets Che: Parts One & Two. It’s best described as its own unique allegorical tale. The plot concerns Lili (Psotta) and her beloved mutt Hagen, as they are sent to live with her estranged father Dániel (Zsótér) following her mother’s sojourn to Australia for work. The problem being that in White God’s Hungary, Hagen counts as an unregistered mongrel; this requires taxation for the dog’s crime of not being a purebred.
